Released on July 18, 2025, Black Bolt and White Flare are the fifth special dual expansions—and also the final special sets—in the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet series. They are the English versions corresponding to the special sets of the same name in Japan. Black Bolt and White Flare are Gen V's answer to 151, but with a special twist: each Pokémon in the Unova Pokédex has an Art Rare or Special Art Rare card! In total, the two sets feature over 156 unique illustrated cards. Additionally, each Pokémon in Unova also appears as: regular cards, reverse holo cards, Poké Ball reverse holo cards, and Master Ball reverse holo cards. A new rarity, BWR (Black White Rare), is also introduced, featuring a unique monochromatic holographic design for Pokémon. Each set contains only one unique BWR card, replacing the traditional gold card. This is also the first English dual set released, with each set having its own distinct card list—no overlap between Black Bolt and White Flare.
